'LIGHTKEEPER'S VIEW' - GALLEY HEAD
'LIGHTKEEPER'S VIEW' - GALLEY HEAD
I once again had the pleasure of visiting one of the Great Lighthouses of Ireland: Galley Head in West Cork. I met the lightkeeper, Gerry Butler, who has been a lightkeeper all his life. He told me some incredible stories about severe storms and huge waves crashing over the lighthouses he was in. He was even on the Fastnet Rock during the Fastnet Race disaster of 1979.
This image is part of my 'LIGHTKEEPER'S VIEW' series and was taken from one of the windows inside the lighthouse, looking out to the Atlantic, on a much calmer day than in the stories Gerry told me.
